Lottery app Jackpocket, a subsidiary of DraftKings Inc., today announced a new collaboration with Barstool Sports.
The announcement builds off the multi-year partnership between DraftKings and Barstool Sports announced moments after the Super Bowl last February. Barstool had previously ended its business relationship with Penn Entertainment.
Building Off Earlier DraftKings Deal
Jackpocket becomes the “Exclusive and Official Digital Lottery Partner of Barstool Sports.”
Barstool is known for its comedic sports content distributed across multiple platforms, including social, podcasts, video, and live events. The brand reaches over 265 million people across social media platforms, led by personalities like Barstool founder Dave Portnoy.
In a statement about the Jackpocket deal, Portnoy said: “Everyone knows we’re teamed up with DraftKings, and now we’re excited to be bringing Jackpocket into the mix. Our relationship is all about making it super easy for our fans to get in on the action, no matter where they are.
What’s better than being able to play the lottery, and potentially win the jackpot, straight from your phone. Jackpocket makes it simple and fun.”
DraftKings’ Acquisition of Jackpocket
In May, DraftKings Inc. announced the completion of the acquisition of Jackpocket Inc., a $750 million cash and stock deal that was originally announced in February.
The acquisition meant DraftKings was now tapping into the U.S. lottery vertical, expanding its position in the sportsbook and igaming domains in part by improving customer value, based on demonstrated cross-sell capabilities, and beefing up customer acquisition capabilities.
Live Stream Event to Kick Off Relationship
Fans of Barstool Sports will be seeing the Jackpocket brand woven into all aspects of the Barstool platforms. Out of the gate, Barstool Sports’ Jersey Jerry and the Jerry After Dark team will team up with Jackpocket to find one winning ticket among thousands of tickets in an event tonight (9 p.m. EST) that will be live-streamed.
Jackpocket’s content will also be integrated alongside personalities like Big Cat & PFT from Pardon My Take, the popular sports podcast, and Wallo & Gillie from Million Dollaz Worth of Game.
Jackpocket will be bringing in new content, activations and opportunities to win cash and Jackpocket credits to Barstool fans.
Integration with Barstool Personalities
Barstool is an American entertainment powerhouse that Jackpocket fans know and love. This collaboration allows us to reach our players directly and bring Jackpocket’s easy, convenient lottery experience to more like-minded Americans,” said Peter Sullivan, Senior Vice President of Lottery at DraftKings, in a statement to the media. “We’re excited to bring fans opportunities to have fun and potentially win big with the best in the business.”
