Both Liverpool (6-0-1) and Chelsea (4-2-1) have been without a loss in the Premier League for a long time. The Reds won their last three EPL games, while the Blues have been without a defeat since August. Another similarity between these two is that they’ve been great scoring-wise in the 2024-25 season.
All this promises a very entertaining duel at Anfield this coming Sunday. So, who do we think will come out victorious? To learn the answer, you need to keep on reading this Liverpool vs. Chelsea preview.

Premier League Odds Favor Liverpool to Win on October 20
The Liverpool vs. Chelsea odds favor the Merseyside boys, which is no surprise as they’re always great when they play at home. Their only loss of the season did happen at Anfield, but you can think of it as a glitch in the matrix. The defeat happened to Nottingham Forrest, who just aren’t at the same level as the Reds.
Their other two Premier League games at Anfield were less stressful for the fans. Liverpool beat Brentford 2:0 and Bournemouth 3:0. Now, they’re welcoming a much tougher opponent, but on the bright side for them, their home record against Chelsea is very good.
They’re 2-2-1 in the last five Liverpool vs. Chelsea duels. In the most recent of those (January 31, 2024), they destroyed the Blues 4:1.
There is some bad news for Liverpool ahead of Sunday’s game. Their first-choice goalkeeper Alisson will miss the game with a hamstring injury, and so will Harvey Elliott (broken foot), while Alexis Mac Allister (adductor) remains doubtful.
Chelsea Players Love Big Games
They started the season with a 2:0 loss to defending champions Manchester City but are without a single loss in the Prem since then. They somewhat struggled against weaker teams like Crystal Palace and Nottingham, with each of which they drew 1:1.
However, against tougher teams, Chelsea’s players did really well. For example, they defeated Brighton 4:2 and West Ham 3:0. It’s kind of surprising that this team performs well in big games as Chelsea’s 2024 roster is the youngest in the Premier League with an average age of just 23.4.
There’s just one player in Chelsea’s squad who’s over 30, and it’s Marcus Bettinelli (32), who’s yet to play a single minute this season.
Liverpool vs. Chelsea Prediction
Our prediction is that in a few years’ time, Chelsea will be a true world-beater. However, until this team’s youngsters get enough of valuable experience, they’re not going to perform great against elite teams like Liverpool. Sure, they did beat Brighton and West Ham, but Liverpool is just on another level. They might score a goal at Anfield, though, especially because Alisson is out for Liverpool. The result of this should be “over 2.5” hitting.
Pick: Liverpool & Over 2.5 Goals
