A person from Melbourne who recently participated in a popular lottery game won a multi-million-dollar prize but may not know about it yet.
Single Division One Entry Brings AU$8M Payday
The Lott is looking for the mysterious winner from Tuesday night’s Oz Lotto draw. Information regarding the fortunate winner is scarce but what’s known so far is that they have purchased their winning ticket at Central Station News, Shop Lg 13, Melbourne Central on 211 La Trobe Street in Melbourne.
The incredibly lucky winner, whoever that may be, holds the single division one winning entry from Oz Lotto’s draw 1601 from Tuesday, October 22, 2024. As the sole entry, the winner is eligible for the full prize which is the mind-blowing sum of AU$8 million ($5.3 million).
The Lott usually notifies the ticket holders of division one prizes when they are registered. However, in the case of the fortunate Melbourne winner, the ticket wasn’t registered to a specific account. This means that The Lott will now wait for the winner to check their ticket and contact them to collect the prize.
Oz Lotto’s draw 1601 saw winning numbers 1, 17, 16, 28, 24, 26 and 2 drawn. The supplementary numbers from the draw were 4, 41 and 47.
The Lottery Calls the Holders of Tickets That Have Been Registered to a Card or Player Account
Anna Hobdell, a spokesperson for The Lott, revealed that it is highly likely that a fortunate person’s life changed last night but they are yet to realize it. “Imagine going to bed tonight not knowing you’ve just won $8 million in Oz Lotto! That’s the reality for one mystery Victorian player after scoring division one in Tuesday’s draw,” she explained.
Hobdell predicted that once the lottery player realizes that they had won the top prize, they will be “jumping for joy.” The spokesperson encouraged lottery players to check their tickets for the win and call The Lott to start the required process for claiming prizes.
Finally, Hobdell pointed out: “This is a great reminder to all lottery players to register your ticket to an online account or players card because if you scored a life-changing prize we could call you immediately after the draw with the exhilarating news.”
According to Shuxia Tang, the owner of Central Station News, the venue where the winning division one ticket was purchased, the win marks the ninth win since 2009. The owner of the outlet said that it is incredibly exciting to sell the winning division one ticket. Tang pointed out that the AU$8 million ($5.3 million) is the largest division one entry so far sold at Central Station News.
