Las Vegas headliner and country singer Garth Brooks has been accused of sexual assault by a woman who says she served as his makeup artist and hairstylist. The complaint was filed in California and alleged that the now-62-year-old country star had raped the woman who preferred to use the pseudonym Jane Roe.
Woman Says Brooks Forced Himself on Her
The lawsuit alleged that Roe was assaulted during a work trip in 2019. The woman had, at this point, been working for Brooks for two years.
In her lawsuit, Roe alleged that Brooks had, in addition to forcing himself on her, engaged in repeated acts of nudity. According to the allegation, he would also change in front of Roe, send her explicit texts and share his sexual fantasies with her.
The woman, who said she often had to work at the singer’s home, alleged that once he had her touch his genitals after walking out of the shower.
As mentioned, the alleged rape is said to have occurred in 2019 during a work trip to Los Angeles. Roe said that Brooks had intentionally booked a single-bedroom suite and used the opportunity to grope and sexually assault her. According to the lawsuit, Brooks even suggested having a threesome with Roe and Trisha Yearwood, a country singer Roe worked for previously.
Brooks Fiercely Denied the Accusations
Brooks denied the accusations, saying he could never do something like this. He alleged that he is being extorted by Roe who is demanding money. The Vegas headliner’s team had previously filed a separate lawsuit complaint in Mississippi to block Roe’s alleged extortion.
Brooks alleged that by that point, Roe’s lawyer had contacted him and tried to blackmail him into providing Roe with a full-time job with medical benefits. The earlier lawsuit, which Brooks filed under the pseudonym John Doe, insisted that the allegations were untrue but could still cause severe damage to Brooks’ reputation and his relationship with his loved ones.
However, Roe’s attorneys insisted that Brooks will be “held accountable for his actions.”
Brooks Said He Wants to Do Good
Brooks himself commented on the matter, alleging that Roe and her team had hassled him to no end with threats, lies, and “tragic tales of what his future would be if he did not write a check for many millions of dollars.”
Brooks, however, was firm that giving hush money out would mean admitting to crimes he didn’t commit. Because of that, he had filed the earlier lawsuit, which was anonymous “for the sake of families on both sides.
While Brooks said that he trusts the system and does not fear the truth, he regretted that his pure desire to play music and do good deeds is now in question.
