The Washington Commanders booked the ticket to the NFC Championship Game by beating favored Detroit Lions last weekend. Before that, we saw them down another favorite – the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Can they do it for a third time straight? NFL odds suggest it’s not very likely that they’re going to beat the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game on January 26, but you never know with these guys.

Washington Commanders Praying for Another Miracle
The Washington Commanders got to the postseason as the No. 5 seed in the NFC. They finished the regular season with a 12-2 record and only got to the Playoffs through Wild Card. The team that won their division was their next opponent, the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles beat them once in the regular season when the two met in Philly. Their second game was played on the Commanders’ turf, and they won. What’s giving their fans hope that they can do it again is that these guys have been amazing since the start of the postseason.
In the Wild Card Round, they defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Florida with the final score of 23:20. From there, they traveled to Michigan, where everyone expected them to get blown out by the Detroit Lions. However, just the opposite happened – the Commanders beat the Lions at Ford Field 45:31.
They did great in every aspect of the game, with quarterback Jayden Daniels going 22-for-31 for 299 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Brian Robinson Jr. scored two rushing touchdowns as well.
In addition, Washington’s defense did a very good job, making three interceptions on Detroit’s quarterback Jared Goff.
Philadelphia Eagles Confident of a Win on Sunday
The Philadelphia Eagles finished the regular season with a 14-3 record, which earned them the No. 2 seed in the NFC. They were amazing at Lincoln Financial Field in 2024, winning 8 home games and losing just one. The one they lost happened against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2.
Since then, they’re 9-0 at home, with two of those wins happening in the postseason. First, they defeated the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round, with the final score of 22:10. Then, in the Divisional Playoffs, they beat the Los Angeles Rams 28:22.
In the first of those, Philly’s passing game was excellent, with quarterback Jalen Hurts throwing two TDs. In the game with the Rams last weekend, he threw no TD passes, but he did score one rushing TD on his own; the other two were the work of running back Saquon Barkley.
Washington Commanders vs. Philadelphia Eagles Prediction
We understand why bookmakers see the Philadelphia Eagles as favorites to win the NFC Championship on Sunday. After all, they simply are the best team in the conference. However, we don’t think they will have an easy job against the in-form Washington Commanders, who will almost certainly give them war at the Link.
