PokerGO’s No Gamble No Future was the spot of six-figure pot this week that saw one player hit quads on the series’ ‘Cash of the Titans’ game.
With a minimum $100,000 buy-in and one optional $100,000 rebuy, the cash game featured a collection of high-stakes players that included Andrew Robl, Kristen Foxen, Justin Young, Sean Perry, and Stanley Choi.
‘Cash of the Titans’ featured three days of action with escalating blinds. The biggest winners of each of the first two days earn a $75,000 bonus with the overall winner on day three collecting an extra $200,000.
One key hand saw Choi, a Hong Kong entrepreneur and founder of Head & Shoulders Financial Group, hit quads on a flop of 8 8 2 while holding 8 8 with $19,900 in the pot. Robl, who raised preflop, had $149,000 in front of him and had no prospects of winning the pot with 10s 9. However, Robl fired $5,000 into his opponent.
“Robl going bananas with 10-9 off, trying to play huge pots – not a great spot,” commentator Brent Hanks noted.
Choi had $167,000 behind and was in the driver’s seat in this one. He thought a bit before minraising to $10,000, with Robl instantly making the call to float. The turn brought the 7, giving Robl an open-ended straight draw. This time he checked the action and Choi again took his time before making a move.
After checking behind, the J fell on the river, handing Robl what was a disastrous straight. Choi’s trap was sprung and Robl fired $35,000. That brought a rather quick raise from Choi to $90,000.
“You got jacks?” Robl asked his opponent.
The previous ‘Cash of the Titans’ champion and one of the winningest players in live-streamed cash games was in a particularly tough spot. Robl continued thinking about the situation and counting his chips before eventually folding, handing Choi a pot that could have been much larger.
Choi simply smiled when Robl asked if he could see one of his cards. Watch the complete hand below.
Robl had previously grabbed the top bonus on the last edition of ‘Cash of the Titans’, and has won more than $5 million in live-streamed cash games. That has come in appearances on numerous games including High Stakes Poker, Poker After Dark, and others.
He recently was involved in a massive hand against Nik Airball worth more than $700,000.
Along with No Gamble No Future, Choi has also appeared on High Stakes Poker and Hustler Casino Live. According to HighrollPoker.com, he’s fared well in his appearances and was up more than $500,000 before this episode.
