Can Mestalla Power Help Valencia on Saturday?
Embarrassingly for a team with such an illustrious history, Valencia is sitting at the very bottom of the La Liga table at the moment. The Bats from the South of Spain are 1-4-6 in 2024, which accounts for only 7 points. In comparison, Los Blancos have 24 points.
What’s interesting is that 5 of those 7 points Valencia won at home. This is an interesting fact, but it’s not surprising given that they’re famous for being very tough when playing on their turf.
They also have a very good record against Real Madrid at La Mestalla. In fact, they won 5 of their last 10 duels with Los Blancos that took place in Valencia. Another 3 ended in a tie, while they only lost 2 of those. The last time they lost to Real Madrid at home was more than 3 years ago.
So, will the Mestalla power help them on November 2? Well, it seems like they don’t have the manpower to beat Real Madrid. However, they do have some really good defenders on the roster, not to mention that their goalkeeper, Giorgi Mamardashvili is one of the best shot-stoppers in the world. The biggest problem for Real Madrid this season in all competitions has been their somewhat leaky defense. Actually, this problem has only started recently after their key defenders got injured. Right-back Danny Carvajal is out and so is central defender, Antonio Rudiger. As if that wasn’t bad enough, they’re also without their first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
Knowing this, it’s not really surprising that they conceded four goals against Barcelona. What is surprising is that they failed to score a single goal that day.
This is shocking because they’ve got some real good forwards on the roster – Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, as well as midfielder Jude Bellingham who often gets forward.
Barcelona’s defense put on a real masterclass in that game, setting offsite traps numerous times. Can Valencia do the same this coming Saturday?
Valencia vs. Real Madrid Prediction
You can bet that Valencia are going to defend with all they’ve got on Saturday. Their only win this season happened against Girona. In a game in which they had ball possession of only about 30%. Our prediction is that they’re going to employ the same tactic against Real Madrid. However, we don’t think it’s going to be as effective.
Los Blancos need to take this game seriously and score at least one goal. That said, they probably won’t score too many goals, so “under 3.5” would be a very good bet. This bed comes at -280 at BetOnline.
