Fontainebleau Las Vegas announced on Wednesday that it will transform its Oasis Pool Deck into an ice rink from Nov. 27 through Jan. 5. And that makes three Las Vegas Strip casino resorts that will convert their unused pools into skating rinks this winter.
“As we approach our one-year anniversary on December 13, the unveiling of our Winter Wonderland makes this holiday season even more special,” Maurice Wooden, the resort’s president, said in a press release. “We are grateful for the Las Vegas community embracing us in our first year, and we can’t wait to celebrate with our guests as they discover all of the magic, the joy, and the unforgettable surprises we have in store.”
The Fontainebleau’s rink, measuring 8,000 square feet, be open daily for $25 per person, although casino rewards members can waive the admission fee for up to six guests. Skate fees, including rentals, range between $25 and $35.
Tickets go on sale starting Oct. 18.

Although we can’t say for sure, there’s pretty much no way the Fontainebleau didn’t steal this idea from the Cosmopolitan, which has been converting its Boulevard Pool — on the fourth floor of its Boulevard Tower — into a frozen wonderland since Winter 2011.
However Fontainebleau’s rink does have about twice the Cosmo rink’s square footage, and they beat the MGM property to its announcement.
The Cosmopolitan ice rink usually runs mid-November through the first week of January, from the afternoon through midnight. No pricing or reservation details are available yet.
Finally, as we reported last month, the Venetian is also winterizing one of its pools with a rink — of a different kind.
The pool at Tao Beach Dayclub will become Flipper’s at Tao Beach, a disco roller rink courtesy of part-owner Usher.
Flipper’s will run from noon to 8 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays, beginning at $20 per hour or $75 for a day pass. Reservations are available here.
